This letter should be used in the event of an employee notifying you that she is pregnant, has provided you with her MAT B1 form but does not have the necessary length of service to qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay. You should include a completed SMP1 Form with this letter. Both you and your employee may wish to consider how to treat holiday entitlement; it is normal practice for a pregnant employee to take her full holiday entitlement prior to the commencement of her Maternity Leave.
